BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO UNDERSTAND THE WORLD OF SUCCESSFUL WRITING AND A SEASONED WRITER’S GUIDE TO GROW FURTHER.

I have never met a person who did not want to do something different from what they have been doing.

Behind every individual who has settled due to responsibilities, there lies a dream they couldn’t pursue.

But how do you know if it’s a dream worth following or a mere ‘what if’ illusion you should wake up from?

“There’s a saying in publishing: 80 percent of authors fail, and the 20 percent that succeed pay for all the failures,” Deahl says.

How do you find out which percentage you belong to? More importantly, how do you succeed without getting into debt pursuing your passion?

Hold on tight; it’s going be a harsh ride…

FIRST OF ALL- KEEP WRITING!! : The first few months are a sacred dedication era. You must write every day, keep improving, and continually evaluate what works. Regardless of the number of followers/claps/comments, you must keep going.

Only and only after that (at least after 8–12 months) you are allowed to take a look back and evaluate

— Weather you should give yourself more time, try harder or

— You can pursue this as a career or

— You should give it up for good.

Now, let’s decode the strategy of good AND successful writing,

  1. GOOD WRITERS VS SUCCESSFUL WRITERS : There are good writers and there are successful writers.

There are many differences among them but today I will talk about just one.

In today’s date, Good Writers write straight from the heart but fail to make money from it.

While Successful Writers write what’s trending and know how to grow financially.

There is no reason, you can’t be both!

Don’t just copy something from ChatGPT and publish it with little modification!! People have got Google for facts and figures. People will follow you if they sense authenticity and confidence in what you pen down. No one is going to follow you if they don’t value your opinions. And for that you got to give strong suggestions that actually work rather than simply repeating same old common tips and write diplomatically. You need to give them harsh truth, myth busters even if it’s controversial.

2. WRITE RELATABLE : Your readers are not interested in stories inspired by your life unless you are a high-profile scandal or success. They want enlightenment on what they are going through. Either they seek help with #what #why #how or they want assurance that whatever they are going through, they are not alone. So, write from their perspective, something they can relate to.

3. IT MUST CONVEY ‘THE MESSAGE’ : write down your content, read it from a receiver's point of view. Will your content make sense to people who are reading it? Your piece ought to be well put in order for people to get it in one go. If they don’t get it in one go, it’s not worth going through again.

4. MAKE IT PRESENTABLE LIKE A DESIRABLE DESSERT : Apologies in advance if you find my metaphor cringe but-

I do believe that serving a dessert and delivering an article are very much alike!

When you start preparing them, you must be sure what goes in and what doesn’t! Expurgate the AI generated emotionless words with authentic, easily understandable ones.

You must maintain the balance. Now it may sound common and insignificant to you but this is one of the biggest difference between an expert and a newb. Not too little and definitely not too much. If you are writing on personality development. You can’t just write three points and stretch them up to 5 pages just by over-explaining.

PRESENTATION MATTERS : It matters more than you think! Use eye-catching titles, subtitles, make them bold, decorate them with points, and use one or two relatable but thought-provoking images.

5. SHARE YOUR CONTENT : Whether you are a Shopkeeper, Writer, Doctor, or Realtor — you have to be a SELLER too. The world won’t know about your services until you show them.

Share your Medium account on Linkedin, Instagram, Facebook. Similarly do this with other platforms. Send the links of your best work with your friends and family, asking them to share it further.

6. KEEP SEARCHINCH AND APPLYING UPDATED FEATURES: If you’re a mainstream online writer, this is especially for you — online platforms always release new updates, new features to broaden your reach. Discover and utilize them. Purchase premier packages to gain an advantage over your fellow writers.

With this, I would like to summarize my views on Writing and Writers:

some people realize it early in their journey, while others take much longer. I am not telling you to give up after 12 months of trying and failing, but in your heart (and statistically), you must know if there is a writer’s factor in you after comparing your first piece of writing to your latest one.

And most importantly, if you want to write just out of love for writing not for money making. You can write till your last breath. May be you will find your X-factor after writing for a decade or so!
